About

An important part of the Office of Student Activities, NYU Program Board is a student-run organization dedicated to providing affordable, worthwhile entertainment and coordinating special events for the entire NYU community. Program Board reaches out to the university community by co-sponsoring major events and theme months with other clubs and departments. Program Board is comprised of a diverse committee of students dedicated to bringing something new to their student body, connecting them to new art, music, and ideas happening nationwide.

Program Board provides an eclectic variety of cultural, artistic, and often times educational entertainment that connects the NYU student body to the community in which it thrives. Past events have included concerts by Sonic Youth, Moby, Xiu Xiu, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, The Magnetic Fields, Cat Power, M. Ward, and The National; Lectures by Harvey Pekar, Jim Carroll, Andrew W.K., Amy Sedaris, and Michael Showalter; a popular weekly film series; an Urban Barn Raising in Washington Square Park hosted by a London based Architect, New York City Parks and Recreation Department, and Program Board Performing Arts Committee; and an intimate talk/acoustic performance with Yo La Tengo (all, by the way, were awesome, sell out events).

Membership in Program Board offers opportunities to gain worthwhile experience while working with professionals in the arts and entertainment fields. Program Board members are responsible for every step of the event planning process, from booking of talent and contract negotiation to technical production and publicity.

Committees include: Concerts, New Music, Pre-Release, Film Series, Lectures, Performing Arts, Poets & Writers, Student Arts, Visual Arts, Archive, Membership, and Publicity.
