Going Greek... How do I join?
Each fraternity and sorority continually seeks new membership for their organization; however, each fall and spring semester, you will have the opportunity to participate in a formal recruitment period. During recruitment you will have the opportunity to explore your options in joining a Greek organization. Each fraternity and sorority has unique programs and strengths, but are all primarily concerned with friendships, leadership, scholarship, and service to others. Choosing a fraternity and sorority is a mutual selection between you and the organization; it will be important for you to seek out the fraternity or sorority that will best fit your personality, needs, and goals.
Do I have to join if I go through recruitment?
No, recruitment provides you an opportunity to learn about each fraternity and sorority, and you can participate in recruitment until you have found the sorority or fraternity that is best for you. We encourage you to explore all of the involvement opportunities available to you at NYU, and to consider going Greek when you are ready. Remember, joining a fraternity or sorority is making a lifetime commitment to brotherhood/sisterhood. Choosing your Greek affiliation should only happen when you feel ready to do so.
