All current sororities and fraternities in good standing with New York University are allowed to recruit in the Fall of 2009.
However, due to the recent exponential growth of the Fraternity and
Sorority Life community at New York University, as of the Fall of
2009, the Inter-Greek Council and Fraternity and Sorority Life has
placed a MORATORIUM on any expansion efforts for at least the Fall
of 2009. At the conclusion of the Fall of 2009 stakeholders in the
Office of Student Activities, Fraternity and Sorority Life and the
Inter-Greek Council will resume discussion on how to proceed with
possible expansion efforts for the Spring of 2010. Please check back in January of 2010 for updates on the expansion moratorium.
