Mission Statement:

South Asian Studies Program Initiative (SASPI) aims to consolidate and further the study of South Asian Countries, their culture, society, economics and politics. We promote the discussion of both internal dynamics within the countries as well as the eternal ones between neighbors and their interaction with the world community in a global context. The study of South Asia at NYU has grown phenomenally over the past few years but it is spread across the various schools. There are multiple professors performing great research but with very little collaboration. SASPI aims to provide a platform for these faculty members to connect with students and organize events to increase awareness of South Asia and their work at NYU. We aim to increase dialogue and discussion among students interested in South Asia while promoting the South Asian Studies Minor.
