Intern through the Civic Team
As part of the Civic Team, students with previous volunteer experience, are also able to apply to be an intern within a non-profit or government agency through two different tracks:

  • Community Engagement Track (CET)
    • Intern at non-profit - For internship job descriptions at non-profits, please click here. Please note: the CET internships are unpaid; however, there may be an opportunity to use your Federal Work Study for this program. We will provide more information about this aspect at a later date.
  • Government Mobilization Track (GMT)
    • Intern at government office - Placement will occurr through the NYC Public Service Corps. For more information about potential government office placement, please click here. Please note that the GMT internship must be done for academic credit or Federal Work Study.

The interns will commit to 10-15 hrs per week at their respective sites. As the specific duties of the interns will vary per site, some of the general expectations of the students through the program include, but are not limited to:

  • - Coordinating volunteers
  • - Assisting with office support
  • - Providing additional educational resources for volunteers
  • - Facilitating group reflections
  • - Participating in all Civic Team trainings
  • - Working with your team to develop a special project for your agency
  • - Attending all required events and programs for the Civic Team and your agency

As part of the internship, students will receive training on various subject areas to ensure that they are well prepared to fully and effectively contribute to the organization and better meet the ever-changing needs of the New York City communities and non-profit sector in the current climate.
