Four PillarsDevelop your LEADERSHIP abilitiesMembership in a fraternity or sorority will offer you countless opportunities to develop your leadership skills. Leadership conferences, officer trainings, membership retreats and fraternity and sorority community-wide leadership programs provide ways for you to hone your leadership skills. Community-Wide Leadership Opportunities Include:
Engage in SERVICE opportunitiesCommunity service is an important part of the mission of Greek-letter organizations. You will learn to become a lifelong active citizen and contributor to society. Each organization is associated with a national and/or local philanthropy and participates in other charitable endeavors in New York City. The IGC sponsors several community-wide service events including Special Olympics, Volunteer in the Park Day, and Relay for Life. Enhance your SCHOLARSHIP achievementMembership in a fraternity and sorority will provide you with a mentoring network to help maximize your educational achievements. NYU's Greek organizations have a minimum GPA requirement for membership and offer scholarship opportunities and the national Greek honor society, Order of Omega. Organizations also provide the NYU community with open programs focusing on scholarship such as time management and study skills workshops. Create Lasting FRIENDSHIPSMembership in a fraternity or sorority will offer you opportunities to strengthen relationships with your peers and foster lifelong friendships. Social programming includes mixers, formals, sporting competitions, and Greek Week. Because our community is relatively small, we are very tight-knit, with the bonds of friendship extending from within individual organizations to the community at large. |
