In response to Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar

Mission Statement

The Office of Student Activities (OSA) provides comprehensive programs, activities and services that enhance the student experience, support student organizations, encourage active citizenship, develop student leaders and create community.

Philosophy

The Office of Student Activities places a high priority on offering each of our students a superior educational experience in an environment that promotes activism and ethical leadership, values personal wellness, embraces the arts and artistic expression, protects freedom of speech, supports the community-building efforts of student leaders, celebrates diversity, promotes being in and of the city, and welcomes the contributions of our alumni.

What We Do

The OSA staff provides on-going advisement and support services for All-Square and school-based student organizations and serves as a liaison between the leaders of these organizations, student government, faculty, and administration. OSA holds an annual fall and spring club festival to introduce students to the 396 student organizations registered with their office. OSA offers the GOLD Leadership Program, facilitates the New Club Development Program for students wanting to start a new club, hosts the Harvest Banquet, and Strawberry fest, that foster a greater sense of community at NYU.

OSA also offers the unique Alternative Breaks Program for students seeking an intensive community service experience. OSA oversees the Loeb Student Center (LSC) located in the Kimmel Center for University Life on the 7th floor. The LSC includes two club lounges, club mailboxes, bulletin boards, a club and student publication resource center, the offices of the Student Activities Board, the All-Square Student Budget Allocation Committee, the Program Board office and the Office of Student Activities.

OSA is responsible for Fraternity and Sorority Life at NYU, serves as the primary source of advisors for Greek letter organizations, and provides guidance and support for fraternities and sororities, as well as their governing councils and judicial boards. OSA is home to the student-run Program Board and works in partnership with their various committees to produce and promote cutting edge visual and performing arts programs, literary events, new music performances, concerts, lectures, and films.
